For the adventurous who enjoy hiking, the Park is easily accessible by a short 0.5 mile hike up a nearby old logging road! By car, the park is just 2.5 miles from the lodge. Gatlinburg is a great place to visit for adventure seekers or relaxed visitors alike. Start your morning by taking in the fresh mountain air and the fabulous mountain views with a fresh cup of coffee in hand from one of our three spacious decks. During the day go hiking on the nearby trails, picnicking next to the streams, shopping the crafts trails.....end your days relaxing while watching the sunset from one of our 18 rocking chairs or two porch swings or from the relaxing comfort of the seven person hot tub or the huge 12-person party hot tub or from one of the eight Adirondack chairs while relaxing around the fire pit - the choice is yours! Later in the evening, you can enjoy some star gazing from your seat around the fire pit in our outdoor living area on Level 3 or you can enjoy a movie or the big game in the theater room on the big screen TV with the awesome surround sound system while relaxing in the tiered seating of the luxury leather recliners. The kids (and adults too) are sure to enjoy a game of pool on the regulation size 8 ft pool table and its companion 10 ft shuffleboard table. There's also a multi-arcade cocktail table which includes 60 of the top arcade games from the 80's including Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Mario Brothers and many more which could keep you busy for hours on end! Undoubtedly, there may be someone in the group who will want to fire up the X-Box One gaming system and play someone in a game at Vista Lodge or someone back home via the internet. For those who like card games, board games and puzzles, there is a gaming table in the Level 2 game room. Vista Lodge can easily accommodate 24 people with inside dining for 26+ and outside dining for 14+. The Lodge is situated just minutes away from downtown Gatlinburg in one direction and the Rocky Top Sports World complex in the other direction. Attractions like Dollywood, Dixie Stampede and The Island are just a few minutes further away in Pigeon Forge. With the Great Smoky Mountains National Park being right next door, bear sightings occur regularly at Vista Lodge. Seeing the bears in person is an awesome experience and we encourage our guests to enjoy our mountain "neighbors". However, as the National Park Service reminds us, even though seeing a bear is a truly exciting event, it is important to remember that bears in national parks are wild and can be dangerous. Their behavior is sometimes unpredictable. While we encourage our guests to enjoy viewing the bears, it is important to keep your distance and not surprise the bears. Everyone will be able to go home happy that way! We are one of a few lodges in Gatlinburg that offers an outdoor living area attached to the house, complete with a fire pit, for being able to sit out in the evening to enjoy the beautiful night skies that are afforded from this mountaintop location. Our fire pit is contained on the bottom deck of the house so you don't have to worry about wild animals approaching while you are enjoying the fire.
